BOTTLE TOWER GARDENS
Mur végétal potager en colonne de bouteilles d"eau et soda recyclées
This video shows the efficiency and sustainability of a bottle tower garden. They can be installed against the wall of a house or along a hedge or a fence. The number of bottle towers has to be adapted for providing food security for the family all year long and year after year. It is a method applicable anywhere on earth, both in rural and in urban areas, e;g. on a balcony. It can be applied at the lowest cost to alleviate malnutrition and hunger.

Plastic bottles can be recycled by stacking them into bottle towers to set up a vertical kitchen garden at home. The bottle towers are used for container gardening of vegetables and herbs. How to build such a tower is shown in different steps.
This is showing how I made my hanging disposable bottle gardens. I didn't use any power tools so it is very simple to construct. I don't have a large outdoor space to garden so I used the best window I have. I plan on planting herbs as well as some smaller rooted plants
The Green Wall Vertical Garden Bottle System is an educational project designed to promote sustainability awareness.
The Green Wall is a hand-on workshop, a great school activity for preschool, middle school and high school kids. It is a great idea for community gatherings and sustainability awareness
events.
The bottle vertical garden in this video was built using 386 used plastic PET bottles, by children in Ben Gurion Elementary School in Givat Shmuel, Israel.

Self Watering Propeller Bottle Garden Urban Green.wmv
Self Watering Propeller Bottle Garden
My latest design for using plastic bottles for indoor gardens is my Self Watering Propeller Bottle Garden!
The thing I like best about this is that it dosent ever need watering so you can seed it and leave it!
The method is using a Large soda bottle with 6 smaller ones cut and drilled into the sides and sponge used as a wick to soak up the water.
I have had one growing for about 3 weeks and and is doing very well, i think you will need to top up the main bottle about every 2 weeks.

Growing plants in a barrel
Food crops and ornamentals can easily be grown in different types of barrels. It can help people to an important quantity of fresh food and it can embellish the environment.
DON'T do this in your Tower Garden! My BIG mistake

I got a phone call near the end of the video so the last part got cut off. Here's the rest:
Tip for short people and tall Tower Gardens!! Why am I pumping out the water? Once a month, remove the water from your Tower Garden and replace with fresh water and nutrients. If you do this
faithfully, you'll get larger and healthier plants. It takes less than 15 minutes per Tower and is so easy to do. Instead of attaching the clear tube that comes with the tower to the top, I
pump out through the bottom instead with a separate pump. What I did is bought a small pump on Amazon with a long tube and I use that pump to pump out the tower instead directly through the
square opening. I direct the water into my other garden beds. Here's the link to the small pump that I'm using: http://amzn.to/1a0p3LV
I attach a hose to the pump and pop the pump into the reservoir. I'm doing this instead of attaching the clear hose that comes with the Tower to the top of the Tower. My Tower Gardens are
very tall (taller than normal since I've added on) so this is kind of hard for me (I'm 5'4"). With three Tower Gardens, this is the simplest way for me to pump out the water with the least
amount of hassle.
This is an aeroponic system. The plants grow strong, healthy, and are full of nutrients. It grows vegetables up to 40% faster! No gardening experience necessary. No weeding!

You've seen pallet projects before but this one is simple, relatively quick, and results in a planter that you can use to grow strawberries, veggies, screening shrubs, or greenery of your
choice. The resulting planter is not only functional but looks great too - no one would ever know that it was a simple pallet in its former life!
Check out the blog version of this tutorial for further instructions:
http://www.lovelygreens.com/2013/05/h...
The project requires one pallet, a few hand tools, and a couple of hours on a sunny afternoon. Once you've made one, you'll be able to knock them out quickly so you could end up with an
entire container garden using these upcycled planters.
I'd love to hear what you think about this project so please leave me a comment in the form below!

Vertical Pallet Garden Ideas
by http://www.VerticalGardenIdeas.com
DIY Vertical Pallet Strawberry or Herb Garden built using all recycled materials. To be successful doing this project you need to have a fully functional pallet. By this I mean you need to have all the boards in place. Many pallet come partly busted up. This is fine but you'll need to repair it because your dirt and plants will not be correctly supported. I think that the best plants to use this method with are smaller bushy type plants like strawberries, short stemmed flowers, or herbs. This method of gardening maximizes space and resources on the cheap. Step by step informational demonstration shown here in the video. Ideally if you can get plants that come back year after year and plant them in your pallet, all you have to do is water and prune. It's also somewhat ergonomic b/c you're not doubled over maintaining your garden. You could have a whole bunch of these lined up in a row and have a big garden planted in just a little bit of space. If you are patient you get your pallet all prepped and planted but wait a week or two for the root to really set in will give you the best results. This demo was done with no wait time and all done within the span of an hour. This was inspired by another you tube video. I thought about doing this years ago but didn't do it until watching another you tube video on it. I'll post it on here.Good luck, have fun, and please subscribe to my channel.

Have an old pallet laying around the yard? Here's a keen way to get good use out of it's framework. Two hours and you have a beautiful decorative garden that is edible too! WARNING: How to
find and use the proper 'heat-treated' wood pallet; do not use 'chemically' treated wood pallets for indoor furniture, children's rooms, composting or for food growing; herbs, strawberries,
etc... Use only 'untreated' or 'heat' treated pallets. First, Methyl Bromide (insecticide on wood shipping crates) was phased out as a fumitory chemical in 1995, but some of these pallets may
still be around, so look for the symbol on crates. Most pallets in the USA have been heat-treated for foreign pests, the symbol is ``IPPC`` and are safe. Pallets used in foreign countries may
still contain insecticides. Check your own countries codes for pallet uses. Thanks, and as always, be a safe gardener. Enjoy the video -- Chef Janie

How to build a wall garden that is sustainable, green, and eco-friendly utilizing post-consumer recycled wall pockets called a "Wally" from the Woolly Pocket company.
Find more information and ideas on green living with Shawna Coronado at http://www.shawnacoronado.com.
*Note -- Because the FTC requires it, I am noting that Woolly Pocket sponsored the Wally
garden pockets. Organic Mechanics Soil sponsored the soil used for this project. Botanical Interests supplied the seeds and Burpee Home Gardens supplied the plants. However, I would use these products even if they had not been sponsored -- I like the them.
Through Woolly Pocket's community outreach discount, Team Detroit was able to bring life back to the tragic destruction of the century-old 'Forrest Arms' building in Mid-town Detroit. Team Detroit's "Green the City" project was a success in creating dramatic hanging gardens by using Woolly Pockets!
There are numerous types of containers in which plants can easily be grown, even more easily than in the soil. Plastic bottles seem to be favorites for family gardening, probably because people don't like to litter too much plastic. gardening in otherwise discarded bottles and pots is a remarkable success, offering families an opportunity to grow vegetables and fruits at home.
